Online Poker Should I?
While many have already seen the joys of playing poker online, still, there are some who would rather be at a casino than in the comforts of their own home. Many have seen the advantages of online poker a disadvantage. So before you choose to play online, remember that:
You don’t know who you’re playing against. Like any other game, knowing who your opponent is can be an advantage. In online poker, you will have no idea (or at least you only have a little idea) on who is on playing against you. With this, it is tough to be familiar with your opponent’s game play. You will find it harder to form techniques that you can use to manipulate a particular player which make it a bit harder to win a game.
Online poker sites are available 24/7. While it is cool to have an online poker site available whenever you want to play, this can be a disadvantage if you tend to be the kind of person who forms habits, or addictions, easily. It is harder to control the urge to play when the game is available to you whenever you feel like playing. Self-control is something that you should be armed with when playing poker online.
There are always distractions of all sorts when you are playing at home. The phone may ring anytime, your wife, or mother, may send you off to different errands, there may be kids who will make any kind of noise, etc. these may all distract you from your game play. While casinos can be noisy, too, you may find it easier to focus there especially since everyone is focused on their games.
Lastly, only PCs or laptops are available for interaction when playing online. The most interaction that you can do is chat facelessly with someone at the other side of the world. If you are one who likes playing and going to casinos to interact with others, then online poker is not the best thing for you.
